Bizzle or QuickBooks?
Depends on the problem.

QuickBooks is mature accounting software with a large accountant network and a strong self-employed offering. Bizzle keeps the same kind of ledger and adds the work around it — answering the phone, chasing invoices, filing paperwork. Pick QuickBooks for accounting depth, Bizzle for admin that does itself.

What is actually different?

QuickBooks is one of the two products most UK accountants will name unprompted. It is broad, it is well supported, and its self-employed tier is genuinely good at the specific job of getting a sole trader to a tax return.

Bizzle overlaps with the accounting part and then keeps going. The phone gets answered, the quote gets sent from the van, the invoice chases itself, and the receipt is filed against the transaction before you have got home.

So the comparison is not really feature-by-feature. It is whether your bottleneck is the books, in which case QuickBooks is a sound answer, or everything around the books, in which case more accounting software will not fix it.

How do they compare, line by line?

Where QuickBooks is the better choice

  • The mobile app is excellent, and the automatic mileage tracking in particular is better than most alternatives including ours.
  • The accountant network is enormous. If yours works in QuickBooks, that familiarity is worth real money at year end.
  • The self-employed tier is a genuinely simple path from shoebox to tax return, and simplicity has value.
  • Maturity again: years of edge cases already found and fixed, against our early access.

So which should you pick?

Choose QuickBooks if you want proven accounting software, your accountant is already there, or the mileage tracking matters to how you work.

Choose Bizzle if the accounting is the easy part and the phone, the chasing and the filing are what actually eat your week.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions people ask.

Is Bizzle a QuickBooks replacement?

For the ledger, invoicing, receipts and VAT, yes. For the wider QuickBooks ecosystem and its longer feature tail, not yet, and we would rather be clear about that up front.

Can I import my QuickBooks data?

Yes. Export from QuickBooks and import into Bizzle, or connect your bank and inbox and let Bizzle rebuild recent activity from what is already there. See the switching guide for the order to do it in.

Which is better for a sole trader?

If you want the cheapest simple route to a tax return, their self-employed tier is hard to argue with. If you are a sole trader whose phone rings while you work, that is a different problem and QuickBooks does not solve it.

Does Bizzle track mileage like QuickBooks?

Not as QuickBooks does it. Its background mileage tracking is genuinely better than anything we offer, and if you claim a lot of business miles that is a fair reason to stay with it rather than a detail to overlook.
