Chased politely,
without you asking.

Automatic invoice chasing sends reminders on a schedule you set — before the due date, on it, and at intervals after — in wording you approve. It works because it removes the decision to chase, which is the actual reason invoices go unchased.

Chasing is not hard, it is uncomfortable

Nobody fails to chase an invoice because they cannot work out how. They fail because it is awkward, it competes with billable work, and it can always be done tomorrow.

Automating it removes the decision entirely. The reminder goes out whether or not you feel like sending it, which is the whole mechanism.

What you can charge on a late commercial payment

Business-to-business debts carry a statutory right to interest at the Bank of England base rate plus eight percent, plus a fixed recovery sum that increases with the size of the debt.

Most people never charge it. What matters is that the right exists and that your customer knows you are aware of it — a line on the invoice is free and quietly effective.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions people ask.

Will automatic chasing annoy customers?

Not if the tone is right and the schedule is sensible. Businesses that pay on time never see the later messages at all, and those that pay late expect to be chased.

Can I exclude a particular customer?

Yes. Pause chasing for a specific customer or invoice when there is a genuine reason, without turning the whole thing off.

What about consumers rather than businesses?

The statutory commercial interest regime applies to business-to-business debts. For consumers, any interest must be a fair term of your contract, so the reminders should be about payment rather than penalties.

Does it stop automatically when they pay?

Yes. Payment reconciles against the invoice and the sequence stops that moment, so nobody is chased for money that arrived this morning — the fastest way to lose the goodwill the reminders were protecting.
