Should I take a deposit on made-to-measure work?
Almost certainly, since nobody else will buy someone else's staircase. Bizzle requests the deposit with the quote acceptance and tracks it against the balance, so the timber is paid for before it is cut. The size of the deposit is your call.
How do I know whether the workshop or the fitting makes money?
Record hours against each half separately and Bizzle keeps them apart in the accounts, so the margin on making and the margin on fitting are visible as two numbers rather than one. The answer surprises most people.
Does it work for a partner and an apprentice sharing the workshop?
One business is one flat price with unlimited logins, so a partner, an apprentice and your accountant each have their own login at no extra cost. If you are two separate businesses sharing a bench, that is two Bizzles.
